chapter 6

The gang headed toward Mickey's on foot. It was around 7:00 when they got their. The place was filled with Roscoe High students drinking lattes and listening to music on Mickey's headphones. Mickey annouced on his annoying old megaphone that he was going to play a song.

"Alright guys and gals, this next song is by Reverie Sound Revue a band that was frequently played by our favorite underground radio station, RFR. Yes, that's right, Radio Free Roscoe. Those kids had talent and I personally miss them. I don't know what to play in here from 4-5pm anymore! So if anyone of you is Pronto, Shady Lane, Question Mark, or Smog... I just want to let you kids know that you are missed and this song is dedicated to you all." That being said, Mickey pressed play on the cd player behind him and the music filled the record store.

Mickey's little speech to RFR and Reverie Sound Revue's song, "One Marathon" gave them chills and made them tear up a bit.

"I can't believe it, even Mickey misses us." Ray said.

"I wish Travis was here." Lily said.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Robbie agreed.

Just then a boy with an olive green hoodie and dark sunglasses who had been sitting down behind them turned around from behind the counter as they walked away and smiled. He watched as Lily, Ray and Robbie sat down at their usual couch.

"Ok, guys, I don't see him here. Maybe we're just getting our hopes up. I mean, what are the odds that he's even back in Roscoe? His father's a diplomat, they could be anywhere else in the world!" Ray complained.

"Dude, I have a feeling he's back. Just wait. He has to be here." Robbie said looking around.

"I don't know Robbie, Ray might be right about this. Maybe Travis just moved on and forgot about us. If he was back he would have been at school and he would have come up to us already." Lily said.

"Come on Lil' you know Travis, he's probably waiting for the universe to give him a sign or something. He wouldn't just drop us like that. We're friends." Robbie said, losing hope in his voice.

They stood at Mickey's until closing time and then walked home on their own. Hurt and confusion was all they could feel after they all decided that RFR would be no more.
